Verify it's
really them.

A voice clone can fake a familiar voice. It can't intercept an SMS to the other person's SIM. Pairsign sends them a one-time code — you say it on the call, they check the SMS. Match means it's really you.

John is about to call you. Their code is:

4829

If they say it on the call, it's really them.

Code 4829 matched — verified call
The threat

The signals you trusted on a phone call no longer work.

A familiar voice, a known number, your grandkid's exact phrasing — none of these are reliable anymore. Experts now say to use “a family code word.” Pairsign is that — automated, for anyone you call.

Who it's for

Built for the call you can't afford to get wrong.

Three real scenarios from South Africa today.

  • For parents & grandparents

    "It's me, I need bail money…"

The classic SA voice-clone scam targets the elderly with a "grandkid in trouble" call. With Pairsign, the real grandchild's code lands by SMS — no code, no call.

  • For executives & finance

    "Approve this wire transfer now."

BEC and CEO-impersonation calls cost SA businesses millions. Pairsign in your call-screening means a finance director gets a code by SMS before they hear a single word of the deepfake.

  • For professionals & clients

    Lawyers, accountants, advisers.

Your client deserves to know it's really you on the line. A pre-call Pairsign code on the SMS turns "verify the caller" from a worry into a one-second check.

How it works

One code. Said out loud. Verified by SMS.

You don't need the other person to install anything. They get the code by SMS — universal, age-proof, no setup. The threat is one-way (the caller is the unknown), so the verification is too.

  1. 01

    Enter their number

Tap 'Start Pairsigned call' and put in the number you're about to ring.

  2. 02

They get the code by SMS

Pairsign sends them a one-time 4-digit code, out-of-band from the call. You see the same code in the app.

  3. 03

Say your code on the call

Read your code out loud when they answer. They check the SMS — match means it's really you.

Spam shield

Stop spam calls before they even ring.

SA has the worst spam-call problem on the planet. Pairsign flips it: publish your pairsign.com/me/<you> URL in your voicemail greeting, email signature, WhatsApp bio. Serious callers verify themselves before they dial — scammers just don't bother.

  • 1Share your verify-me-first URL anywhere people find you.
  • 2A genuine caller opens the page, enters their phone — both of you get a one-time code.
  • 3They call. They say the code. You match it from the SMS. Pick up with confidence.

Ignore everything else. The scammer who can't be bothered to Pairsign isn't worth answering.

Your voicemail greeting

Hi, you've reached Sarah. I don't answer unverified calls. pairsign.com/me/sarah — Pairsign first, then call. Thanks!

What you get

Pairsign: +27 82 555 0199 is going to call you. They will say code 4829.

Verified pre-call.

Why it works

The asymmetry attackers can't close.

Pairsign isn't harder cryptography. It's a different attack surface — one a remote impersonator can't reach.

  • Out-of-band by design

The call is the threat vector. Verification travels through a different channel — SMS to the legitimate SIM. A clone fakes one; it can't intercept both.

  • One-time, one-direction

The caller knows who they're calling, so only the caller has to identify themselves. One fresh code, single-use, expires in 10 minutes, can't be replayed.

  • No app for the other person

SMS works on every phone — including the demographics most targeted by voice scams. The wedge against competitors that require both sides to install.

  • Built for more than calls

Phone first. Email signature verification today. Messaging, video calls, document signing, AI-agent attestation next. Same trust graph.

FAQ

Frequently asked.

Does the other person need a Pairsign account?

No. They just receive an SMS with their code (and yours). Anyone with a phone that receives texts can verify a Pairsigned call.

What if the SMS arrives late or not at all?

The codes show on your screen the moment the verification is created — even if your own SMS fails to deliver you can still read your code off the app. We also retry recipient SMS twice for free.

Could an attacker just intercept the SMS too?

Intercepting SMS to a specific SIM is much harder than cloning a voice. It requires SIM swap or carrier compromise. Pairsign is designed for the realistic 99%+ case where the threat is a remote voice clone — not a nation-state SS7 attack.

Why South Africa first?

It is where we live, where we have direct support, and where AI-voice scams are growing fast. Other regions follow once the closed-beta lessons are baked in.

What about email, video calls, documents?

Email signature verification (public token lookup) ships in MVP. Active email, WhatsApp, video, and document witness verification are on the roadmap — same trust primitive, more channels.
